In 2019, when one of the worst cyclones on record to hit Africa ripped through Sarah’s town of Blantyre in Malawi, it took the life of her 36-year-old son. The cyclone killed more than 1,300 people and left many more missing. Sarah, her neighbourhood, and communities throughout Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe were traumatised – no parent should have to bury their child. Mothers’ Union established 15 trauma healing groups to help people build back their homes, lives and to journey through their grief together.
Your gift can help communities recover from trauma, shock and grief in a safe environment.
Sarah feels a huge sense of relief. She no longer feels alone in her sadness, and her hope for the future is restored.
Your gift of £75 could support an individual through a series of trauma-healing workshops, giving them strength to rebuild their own life.
